About the National Youth Parliament (NYP)

The National Youth Parliament (NYP), which was held for the very first time in 2001, offers youth the opportunity to present their ideas within the main legislative institution of the country. Through this unique opportunity, youth can experience the role of a Maltese member of parliament, the chance to learn how a law is made in Malta and basic parliamentary procedures. The ideas which are discussed and proposed by the youth who participate are gathered in writing and are formally presented to legislators, the Government, the Opposition, and even the President of the Republic of Malta.

Malta’s National Youth Council strives to ensure that through every edition of NYP, Maltese and Gozitan youth are provided with a platform to express their voices, ideas and opinions, and to ultimately show that they are truly capable of bringing change in our country.
