During the course of programme, the young people will be given the opportunity to undergo training, carry out research and as ideAzzjonisti they will present their ideas and work related to the theme chosen to their community.

National youth parliament 2020

The National Youth Parliament is an event many young people look forward to every year to debate and come up with proposals on a particular theme. The 18th edition of NYP had to be shifted online due to the ongoing pandemic. It was streamed live on Saturday morning, the 14th of November. Although this year the parliamentary session had to be done virtually, the event was still a success.
The topics discussed were:
- Art and Sports Opportunities in Malta
- Irregular Immigration
- The Economic Consequences of Covid-19
- Youth Activism in Politics
KNŻ would like to thank all participants and applaud them on their months of hard word, as well as the National Officer, Kristina Filletti, for her dedication and perseverance in organising such an important event during these exceptional circumstances.

The European Commission is regularly organising focus groups to gather feedback from consumers.
We are seeking for young people who would be interested in reviewing the production and promotion of four educational videos on consumer topics (sustainable consumption, financial literacy, internet safety, and data protection).
The videos, produced for the European Commission by our contractor Ecorys, aim to empower people across Europe to become better-informed consumers.
As a token of appreciation, participants in the focus groups will receive from Ecorys a € 50 voucher to thank them for their time and involvement.

This consultation is a tool to understand how young people are involved in the decision making process at European, national and local level. More specifically, it wants to give greater visibility to young people’s needs and ideas by identifying new trends in youth participation. The final purpose is to understand where to intervene in order to inspire EU youth policies at different levels.
It is part of the project “TRAIN: Tracing Integration Policies through Structured Dialogue” within the Key Action 3 of the Erasmus Plus programme which main scope is to increase the process of achieving the level of youth participation by creating a solid and reliable link between youths and policy makers mediated by European institutions and Civil Society Organization.

KNŻ, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ along with the Ministry within the Office of the Prime Minister, Responsible for Sustainable Development held the YOUTH & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT DEBATE. Youth had the opportunity to discuss Sustainable Development with Members of Parliament present while posing questions on the feasibility of their implementation as well as current national work to achieve the SDGs.
It follows on the resolutions drafted by youth participants during the YOUTH AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE held Saturday, 26th September 2020. You can find the resolutions here.
KNŻ would like to thank all the youth involved including our very own SDG Champions and presenters of the proposals who did an amazing job at communicating the youth perspective on SDGs.

The Ministry within the Office of the Prime Minister (Responsible for Sustainable Development, Social Dialogue and the Implementation of the Electoral Manifesto) along with KNŻ and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ held the conference ‘Youth and Sustainable Development’. The objective of the conference was to encourage the further engagement of youth in the development of Malta’s Sustainable Development Strategy for 2050. The outcomes of this conference can be found in this document.
These proposals will be shared with MPs in the SDG Youth Debate being held Fridays 2nd October.

Last week, the National Youth Council of Malta held a meeting with Evarist Bartolo Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade promotion. Nigel Caruana, KNŻ international officer, Eman Borg, Maltese Commonwealth Youth Ambassador and Vladyslava Kravchenko, representative for the Commonwealth Malta Working Group presented Hon Bartolo a series of proposals and ideas to engage Maltese youths within Commonwealth structures. Hon. Bartolo mentioned the important role that Malta is playing between Europe and Africa and how the Commonwealth can be yet another branch to support these bilateral relations.
We look forward to working closely with Hon Bartolo and the Ministry.

Along with the European Youth Forum, KNŻ stands with the people of Belarus fighting for democracy and human rights, and we support the Belarusian National Youth Council – RADA, who are actively involved in the protests and have been providing crucial updates from young activists. A letter was sent from KNŻ to the Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo regarding the informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs which will be a key opportunity for EU Member States not only to express solidarity with the people of Belarus, but also to take a strong stance on the ongoing political crisis. Along with the European Youth Forum, KNŻ stands with the people of Belarus fighting for democracy and human rights, and we support the Belarusian National Youth Council – RADA, who are actively involved in the protests and have been providing crucial updates from young activists. A letter was sent from KNŻ to the Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo regarding the informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs which will be a key opportunity for EU Member States not only to express solidarity with the people of Belarus, but also to take a strong stance on the ongoing political crisis. Youth & AI: Future of work and skills

On the 17th of August, KNŻ held the first online workshop of a series of five for its new policy paper on Artificial Intelligence. The workshop focused on the effects of AI on the future of employment and skills from a youth perspective, with special attention given to the areas of Health, Education, and Automation.
KNŻ would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in the discussion. We would like to thank especially Prof. Alexiei Dingli for accepting our invitation to give a presentation on the heavily contested debate surrounding work and the advent of automation.
