Liam Axisa has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons) and is currently reading for a Masters in Advocacy at the University of Malta. His work as Advocacy Officer allows him to be at the forefront as a relevant stakeholder in discussions with Governmental as well as Non-Governmental Organisations to ensure that a youth dimension is ever-present in policy formulation. He has always had a penchant for pragmatic thinking, something which is necessary in an environment where the youth dimension is often on the back-burner, enabling a balanced approach at advocating the Council’s positions. Liam has previously held roles within the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) Malta and is at present a legal trainee at Camilleri Preziosi Advocates. In his spare time, Liam is an avid follower of international affairs and European politics, as well as a fan of documentaries and non-fiction reading.
The role of Advocacy Officer was created due to the fact that the Council recognised that the policy office was too vast to be the sole responsibility of a single person, and involves the advocacy for the implementation of policies committed to by the Council. Primarily, the role is one which allows for the Council to remain as a credible stakeholder in policy discussions within Malta.
